In a Most Commendable Manner: Fort Niagara’s Hidden African-American History

This special tour, in honor of Black History Month, explores the role of African-Americans at Fort Niagara over the course of three centuries. The tour will cover the topics of slavery in New France, loyalist Richard Pierpoint, the 24th Infantry Regiment at the Fort in 1909, and artist Hubert Crawford who painted the mural "Lions of Cantigny" that adorns the Fort Niagara Officers Club. The tour is included in the admission price and is limited to 18 persons (2 groups) on a first-come-first-served basis.
