2nd Annual “Festival of Slice” Pizza Event Planned for Dec. 7

Niagara Falls USA Pizza celebration moves to larger location at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls.

Nov. 20 (Niagara Falls, NY) – The 2nd Annual Festival of Slice, A Celebration of Niagara Falls Pizza, is on the move to a larger location inside The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls (101 Old Falls St., Niagara Falls, NY), on Saturday, Dec. 7. From 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. With 19 Niagara County pizzerias serving as vendors, this year’s event promises to be “Bigger, Better and Cheesier!” This event is taking place as part of the annual Jingle Falls USA programming in downtown Niagara Falls.

In 2018, the Festival of Slice attracted more than 1,200 attendees, which was unexpected for the event’s inaugural year. Finding a larger and more comfortable setting for this year’s event was a top priority for event organizers.

“We were blown away by the popularity of this event last year,” said Susan Swiatkowski, tourism development manager at Destination Niagara USA and one of the event organizers. “We will never underestimate the power of pizza again,” she joked and credited The Conference & Event Center for their willingness to serve as the new venue this year.

The Conference & Event Center offers 33,000 square-feet of event space for this year’s Festival of Slice, allowing for more room and a better guest experience. Featured along with the 19 pizza vendors will be two full-service bars, a larger fleet of restrooms, two ticket sale locations as well as a generous amount of seating.

Vendors include both new and well established Niagara County pizzerias including Bella Vista Ristorante, Broadway Pizza, The Como Restaurant, DiCamillo Bakery, David’s Steak Hoagy, Donatello’s, Favorites Pizza (Lewiston), Gallo Coal Fire Kitchen, Goodfella’s Pizza, Grandma D’s, Jaco’s Pizzeria, Leon’s Italian Bistro & Pizza, Marino’s Subs & More, Mister B’s Restaurant & Tavern, Mister M’s House of Food & Drink, Sammy’s Pizzeria, Soliday’s Bar & Grill, Submaster’s Bar & Grill, and Tree Top Pizza & Grill.

Each vendor will sell both cheese and a variety of specialty pizzas in party-size slices. Tickets will be sold for $1 each and each ticket can be redeemed for one party-size slice of pizza. Six local celebrity judges will determine the winners of the Golden Pizza Wheel awards in both the Best Cheese Slice and the Best Specialty Slice categories. The celebrity judges are:

Cheese Slice Judges:

  • Katie Alexander – WIVB-TV
  • Ed Kilgore – Former Sports Anchor WGRZ-TV
  • Lou Piccone – Buffalo Bills Alumni

Specialty Slice Judges:

  • Pete Gallivan – WGRZ-TV
  • Ken Jones – Buffalo Bills Alumni
  • Kaylee Wendt – Spectrum News

In addition, all attendees will have the opportunity to vote on a People’s Choice Award winner. Festival and pizza-themed merchandise will also be available for sale that evening.

The event is made possible by Destination Niagara USA, The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, and Old Falls Street, USA. Special thanks to event sponsors: Niagara Falls State Park, Premier Sound DJs and Security Solutions of Niagara.
