With various difficulty levels, hiking in Niagara Falls USA can be easy, affordable and fun for the entire family, including your four-legged furry friend!
If you’re seeking a guided hike, or want to learn more about the great outdoors, partake in one (or all) of the Niagara Region Interpretive Programs Office activities offered this fall and winter. Witness the beautiful fall foliage on a number of hiking trails, all while enjoying a leisurely workout. All pre-scheduled programs are free and intended for individuals and families. October 31: Dark Side of the Falls
Niagara Falls State Park, 332 Prospect St., Niagara Falls
5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. It's not always rainbows and sunshine at Niagara Falls... Take a walk around the park to learn about the Dark Side of the Falls.
November 1: But That Doesn't Look Like a Flower!
Reservoir State Park, 5777 Witmer Road, Niagara Falls
2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Join us for a stroll along the accessible pathway around Reservoir State Park in search of flowers in transition for the winter!
November 1: Goat Island Sunset Saunter
Niagara Falls State Park, 332 Prospect St., Niagara Falls
5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Enjoy a leisurely walk around Goat Island during golden hour for spectacular views of the Falls and later the illumination!
November 8: Gorge at Low Water
Whirlpool State Park, Niagara Scenic Parkway, Niagara Falls
10:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Autumn is a great time to hike! Join us and enjoy the Niagara Gorge after the volume of water in the Niagara River is reduced by 25%. This hike is challenging (stairs and scrambling over rocks).
November 9: Nature Kahoot!
Niagara Falls State Park, 332 Prospect St., Niagara Falls
10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Join us for an indoor program to go head-to-head against other players and test your knowledge of the local flora and fauna.
November 13: Owl Prowl at the Fort
Fort Niagara State Park, 1 Maintenance Ave., Youngstown
5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Learn about the common owls found in the area while taking a walk through the trails at Fort Niagara in hopes of seeing these birds in action.
November 15: Gorge at Low Water

November 15: Observing Nature Like a Naturalist
Artpark, 450 South Fourth St., Lewiston
11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Come explore different methods used by experienced naturalists to observe nature. Put those methods to use on a nature walk with an educator. All materials provided.
November 22: Gullivanting on Goat Island
Niagara Falls State Park, 332 Prospect St., Niagara Falls
10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Join us at the heart of the Niagara River Corridor as we explore the many gulls and waterfowl that overwinter here!
November 22: Winter Naturalist Tracking
Niagara Falls State Park, 332 Prospect St., Niagara Falls
2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Prepare to be a winter naturalist by learning how to identify snow tracks and how different animals prepare for the winter during this presentation! Then put your new tracking knowledge to the test in an indoor game!
