What’s a beef on weck? Ever tried sponge candy? Dig into the can’t-miss local New…
From local favorites to farm-to-table dishes, along with a diverse array of wineries, you can easily craft a culinary escapade to remember in Niagara Falls USA. Here’s a guide to sampling your way through casual hot-spots, romantic eateries, cafes, pubs and more.
What’s better than a room with a view? How about one that serves up delicious cuisine while overlooking one of the most famous sights in the world? Top of the Falls Restaurant is a partner in the Taste NY movement, which was launched to highlight food and beverages grown, produced or processed in New York, so diners are guaranteed an authentic taste of the Empire State while surveying the Horseshoe Falls, while The Silo, home of the famous "Haystack" sandwich, offers Niagara River views and more than 40 flavors of ice cream.
Make sure to bring the kids, as drive-ins and ice cream and candy shops abound around the Falls. At Dee’s Sugar Shack, the name says it all, while at Reid’s Drive-In, burgers, fries and milkshakes reign supreme – the fulfillment of every kid’s culinary dream. But perhaps the only thing getting more attention than the Falls themselves is the world-class pizza coming out of Niagara Falls USA ovens, which has prompted bragging rights over who has the best or biggest slices this side of New York City. Bring your family along for your own personal taste test and determine if you’re Team Sammy's or you’re all about Goodfellas.
Waterfalls and weddings make Niagara Falls USA a most romantic setting, and that romance extends to its dining scene. The Red Coach Inn Restaurant, located inside Red Coach Inn, an English Tudor style hotel, boasts a roaring wood fire and a patio surrounded by gardens and a koi pond, offering a panoramic view of the Upper Rapids. Located in one of the oldest buildings in historic Lewiston, The Griffon Brewery and Gastropub has breathtaking riverfront views and a warming, comfortable ambiance. With 60 beers on tap and unique menu items like the PB&J Burger and the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich, you are sure to find something to tantalize your taste buds.
If you’re in the mood for something fun and familiar, the Hard Rock Café has an outpost across from Niagara Falls State Park. But there also are several choice, standalone restaurants you can only find in Niagara Falls USA. Fortuna's Italian Restaurant & Banquets has been a local mainstay since 1945. According to the Buffalo News, "Fortuna's is as much a part of the Niagara Falls landscape as a certain famed cataract." The third generation of the Fortuna family now runs the restaurant, continuing its tradition of using the freshest ingredients in dishes such as handmade gnocchi, ravioli, steaks, veal, poultry and fresh seafood. Meanwhile, The Anchor Bar, featuring authentic Buffalo-style chicken wings, boasts the original 1964 Anchor Bar recipe, furthering the region’s legacy as the birthplace of America’s favorite bar food.
All that sightseeing making you hungry? There are plenty of charming lunch spots that won’t blow your vacation budget. Go where the locals go — to casual restaurants, diners and more. From classic Mexican favorites at the family-owned El Cubilete to Polish standby Gadawski’s, serving pierogies, golombki, Polish sausage and fish fries on Fridays, you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a hearty-yet-cost-conscious meal.
